How to use Discord on PS5

Curious about how one uses Discord on PS5? One of the joys of modern online gaming is that you can (usually) play games alongside people on different platforms. This does create a bit of a voice chat headache, but thanks to Discord, it doesn’t have to.

Yes, you can actually join a Discord voice call from your PS5. Here’s how it works.

How to use Discord on PS5

The good news is that hopping into a Discord call with your PS5 isn’t difficult. The bad news, however, according to official instructions from both PlayStation and Discord, is that the process is a little strange.

By that, I mean you’ll need a phone or a computer with the Discord app installed on it. Make sure you install Discord on your personal device and log into your Discord account there. From there, here’s what you gotta do:

Navigate to the settings menu in Discord and click “Connections.”

You’ll be given the option to connect your PlayStation Network account to Discord. Log into your PSN account here.

Once that’s done, start or join a voice call in the Discord app.

In the voice call, you should see an option to “Join on PlayStation.” Click on it.

Choose the PS5 console you want to join from (and, uh, make sure the PS5 is actually on).

Assuming everything is working properly, you should then be in the Discord call on the PlayStation 5 itself. This is a strange process in that it doesn’t seem like you can directly join a Discord call from the PS5 menu, but it should only take a few seconds regardless.
