Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds has revealed that he’s delayed gigs because he’s been busy playing League Of Legends.

Speaking to the Washington Post about Imagine Dragons’ extensive involvement in the world of gaming, Reynolds confirmed “we’ve been late onstage because we’re playing League of Legends,” with the massively multiplayer online game penalising players if they quit a game that’s still in progress.
“League Of Legends definitely struck me as something that was very challenging,” guitarist Wayne Sermon told NME previously. “You’re playing against other people but it’s also not like Call Of Duty where some 12-year-old with a sniper rifle is gonna dominate you every time – there’s meta thinking and macro strategy, the most mechanically gifted team isn’t always going to be one that wins, which is good as I’m 37 so my twitch muscles aren’t what they used to be.”
In 2014, Imagine Dragons performed a Legend Of Zelda medley with iconic Nintendo composer Koji Kondo at the first Game Awards. “I geeked out harder on that than when we played in front of [Paul] McCartney,” revealed Reynolds. Imagine Dragons’ music has also being used in trailers for the Nintendo Switch, and the band have also written tracks for Starfield, League Of Legends and Netflix’s Arcane tv show.
“It’s not like we’re going around knocking on doors,” Reynolds told the Washington Post. “They just started reaching out, and we said, ‘Absolutely, this is amazing.’ Look, I’m really tall, 6 foot 4, never played sports, always did music and drama, so people probably think I’m not a gamer, but it’s my bread and butter. It’s our world.”
“My MO from the very beginning is just following the kid in me. What would little Dan Reynolds love to be a part of,” he added.
In other news Take-Two Interactive’s Zynga studio has finally released free-to-play combat game Star Wars: Hunters, after delaying it from 2022.
