Italian manufacturer Directa Plus has taken full control of the Romanian waste management and decontamination company Setcar, by purchasing the remaining stake from GVC Investment, a vehicle owned by Gabriel Valentin Comănescu, five years after acquiring a 51% stake.

In 2019, Directa Plus completed the acquisition of a 51% stake in Setcar shares. The price of the transaction amounted to 4.1 million euros. The other stakes were: GVC – 47%, with the difference of 1.97% remaining to an existing shareholder.

Directa Plus is an Italian manufacturer of articles based on graphene nanoparticles, aimed at both industry and consumers, established in 2005 in Milan.

Setcar was already a commercial partner of Directa Plus. Last year, Setcar, based in Brăila, had a turnover of 36.3 million lei and a loss of 3 million lei, with 168 employees. Setcar was established in 1994 as a manufacturer in the chemical industry.

Since 2000, the company has diversified its field of activity by entering the market of environmental services such as: depollution of industrial facilities and contaminated sites and disposal of hazardous waste. Since 2003, the company has expanded its activity in the field of authorized transportation of hazardous waste, and in 2009, in the soil decontamination segment. In 2011, Setcar built the first mobile indirect thermal desorption installation in Romania, intended for the removal of soils contaminated with HCH, petroleum products, mercury, various volatile products, phenols, PCBs, etc.
