Just two days out from its inaugural staging, Bridgeport, Conn.’s Soundside Music Festival has announced a change in its headliners. Foo Fighters, previously set to lead the bill on Sunday, Sept. 29, have withdrawn from the festival program; in the band’s place, Soundside has slated sets from Jack White and Greta Van Fleet. This substitution arrives after a controversial announcement from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl two weeks ago and the prior substitution of Bleachers for Queens of the Stone Age, who were also previously slated to perform on the final day of the festival.

In a post to instagram, the iconic grunge band wrote, “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival. Please check the festival website for more information.” The group’s festival headline set would have been its first appearance since Grohl shared with his followers that he had “become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside my marriage.” With the cancellation of their appearance this weekend, Foo Fighters have no further concerts scheduled through the end of the year.

White and Greta Van Fleet will join the Soundside lineup in place of the band. White’s show will precede a run of newly announced performances on his No Name tour in Portland, Ore on Sept. 30 and Seattle on Oct. 1. The artist will also headline Memphis, Tenn.’s Mempho Music Festival on Oct. 6, where he will step in for a canceled headline appearance from Queens of the Stone Age.

On Aug. 26, Queens of the Stone Age similarly withdrew from its high-billed Sunday slot at Soundside and cleared the entirety of its remaining 2024 tour schedule, citing frontman Josh Homme’s need to “prioritize his health” over the band’s eight autumn engagements. Indie pop innovators Bleachers, led by the ever-advancing Jack Antonoff, signed on as a perfect replacement for the program’s open set; after releasing its self-titled fourth studio album in March–which features guest spots from Antonoff’s collaborators and contemporaries like Lana Del Rey, Clairo, St. Vincent and Bartees Strange–the band has been riding a high of critical and commercial success through the summer.

Soundside Music Festival will stage at Bridgeport, Conn.’s Seaside Park on Sept. 28 and 29 as the third-annual iteration and formal revamp of C3 Presents’ beloved coastal music event (formerly known as Sound On Sound). To make a splash for its rebranded return, the long-awaited celebration will host 20 high-profile performers from the worlds of alternative, Americana, pop, R&B, hard rock, retro soul and more, including Noah Kahan, Boyz II Men, Norah Jones, Grace Potter, Fleet Foxes, Goo Goo Dolls, Hurray for the Riff Raff, The War and Treaty, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Thee Sacred Souls and more.

Tickets for Soundside Music Festival are available now. Read the updated artist lineup below.
