While the majority of fans and critics didn’t love 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, Jeff Goldblum has fond memories of making the movie.

Goldblum first played Dr. Ian Malcolm in 1993’s Jurassic Park alongside Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant and Laura Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler. Goldblum returned to lead the 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and had a brief scene in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Goldblum, Neill, and Dern then all returned to star alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in Jurassic World Dominion, which was directed by Colin Trevorrow. Despite not getting positive reviews, the movie was still a hit, as it made approximately $1.004 billion at the global box office.

What did Jeff Goldblum say about Jurassic World Dominion?

Speaking with Total Film about the movie, Goldblum said he “had such a good time” on Jurassic World Dominion.

He continued, “I enjoyed working on it and enjoyed trying to make it good. I think it sold a bunch of tickets. But, you know… [laughs] Everybody’s got an opinion about it. It’s tough to make a good movie.”

He further called being able to work with Dern and Neill again a “very enjoyable experience.”

A new Jurassic World movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, is now in development. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it will star Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and more.

Goldblum isn’t expected to return for Jurassic World Rebirth. Speaking about what happens to Ian Malcolm following the events of Jurassic World Dominion, Goldblum said, “think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe.”

He added in regards to Jurassic World Rebirth, “My friend Scarlett Johansson and my new friend Jonathan Bailey from Wicked, I think, are taking up the reins. And I can’t wait to see what they do. I think that’s a good idea.”

Jurassic World Rebirth will be released in United States theaters on July 2, 2025.
