The cast of Rian Johnson’s third entry in the Knives Out franchise continues to grow, with Jeremy Renner now set to star in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
As is the case with most of the cast of the Knives Out franchise, Renner’s role is shrouded in mystery for now. However, he’ll join an ensemble that has quickly become one of the bigger casts of stars in some time.
This week, Kerry Washington and Glenn Close were reported to have joined the film, alongside Challengers’ Josh O’Connor, Civil War’s Cailee Spaeny, and Daniel Craig reprising his role as Benoit Blanc.
Renner is best known for his role as Hawkeye throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has also starred in movies like S.W.A.T., 28 Weeks Later, The Hurt Locker, The Town, the Mission: Impossible franchise, and more. He currently stars in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, as well.
For Renner, the project will also be the first movie he’s set to appear in following a snow plow accident that took place last year that left Renner hospitalized with blunt chest trauma and more than 30 broken bones.

Plot details for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery remain under wraps at this time. The movie is written and directed by Johnson, who made the two previous films in the franchise: 2019’s Knives Out and 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Production on Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is expected to begin shortly. The movie will be released in 2025.
