Jon Wysocki, the original Staind drummer, has died aged 53

Jon Wysocki, the founding drummer of Staind, has passed away aged 53.

Wysocki reportedly died on Saturday (May 18); according to Blabbermouth, the musician had been suffering from issues with his liver before his death, which required medical attention. However, his official cause of death is currently unknown.

The drummer’s current and former bandmates confirmed the news on social media. Though Lydia’s Castle said there was a full statement soon to come, Soil wrote: “Today we lost one of the greats. Jon Wysocki was not only a great friend, a great drummer, but a great human being. It was an honor to have him in SOiL for the time we did. We had so many laughs, so many good times. You will be missed dearly. Until we meet again dear friend…..”

Staind also wrote their own tribute on social media, writing: :We first met Jon through mutual friends in 1994. We came together with Mike, Aaron, and Johnny April in 1995 and founded Staind. The 17 years that followed were some of the best memories of our times together.

“From practice in Ludlow, Mass to touring around the world, Jon was integral to who we were as a band. Our hearts go out to Jon’s family, and fans around the world who loved him.”

Wysocki was one of the founding members of Staind, playing with the nu-metal band from 1995 to 2011. He drummed on their first seven albums including chart-toppers ‘Break The Cycle’ (2001), 14 Shades of Grey (2003) and Chapter V (2005).

The musician left Staind in 2011, apparently due to his discomfort with fame. He would go on to play in Soil and Lydia’s Castle until his death.
