Episode 1 of the rom-com K-drama My Sweet Mobster aired on JTBC and Viki on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The first episode introduces viewers to the three main characters of the drama — Go Eun Ha (Han Sun Hwa), Seo Ji Hwan (Um Tae Goo), and Jang Hyeon Woo (Kwon Yool).
Go Eun Ha, also known as Mini Sister, runs a children’s YouTube channel. Meanwhile, Seo Ji Hwan is an ex-gangster who has established his successful business as the CEO of Thirsty Deer. Finally, Jang Hyeon Woo is a prosecutor. He has the same name as the man Go Eun Ha has been looking for. Eun Ha has a childhood connection with the man. However, the biggest highlight of the first episode is the chaotic meetings between Go Eun Ha and Seo Ji Hwan. From the beginning, they start to misunderstand one another.
K-drama My Sweet Mobster episode 1 focuses on Um Tae Goo & Han Sun Hwa’s misunderstanding
Episode 1 of My Sweet Mobster begins with a flashback scene from 2013. It showcases a gangster group, the Bulldog gang’s boss, Seo Tae Pyeong. Soon, there is a brawl between Tae Pyeong’s only son, Seo Ji Hwan (Um Tae Goo), and Tae Pyeong’s right-hand man, Go Yang Hee. The gang then divides as Go Yang Hee starts his gangster group.
The episode returns to the present, where Seo Ji Hwan has left behind the life of a gangster and started his own business, Thirsty Deer. Some of the ex-cons from the gang are employees at his company. Meanwhile, Go Yang Hee also runs his own business, the Kitty company. While Seo Ji Hwan is at a monastery, he gets a call from his group members. They inform him about some wrongdoings of Go Yang Hee. Thus, he goes to meet him at his club.
Episode 1 of My Sweet Mobster then sees a woman, Go Eun Ha (Han Sun Hwa), in a police uniform. She goes to the same club to meet her friend. Soon, it is revealed that she is not a police officer but just dressed as one. Go Eun Ha works at a company where she has to put on different costumes to make YouTube videos about children’s toys. Moreover, she is passionate about her work.
Inside the club, she accidentally meets Seo Ji Hwan. He catches her when she is about to fall, but Ji Hwan misinterprets her candies for children as an illegal substance. Later, Ji Hwan confronts the club’s manager about their wrongdoings. This leads to the man roughing up one of his employees. Ji Hwan stops him and sits down to help the employee get up.
At that moment, Go Eun Ha arrives and thinks Ji Hwan hurt the employee. So, she decides to use her fake police uniform. Eun Ha goes on to arrest Ji Hwan with a toy handcuff. He tries to explain what has happened there, but she refuses to listen to him. Meanwhile, real police officers appear at the club, and Go Eun Ha runs away. The entire situation becomes humiliating for Ji Hwan, who is now a reputed CEO.
The next day, Eun Ha and Ji Hwan have another encounter. This time, Ji Hwan misunderstands Eun Ha. He thinks that she is connected to the club’s illegal substance chain. Thus, he tries to confront her, which leads to another brawl between the two. Soon, Ji Hwan realizes that she is carrying children’s candies and not drugs.
After that, the My Sweet Mobster episode introduces the audience to another man, Jang Hyeon Woo (Kwon Yool). He is a prosecutor who firmly believes that people can not change. The episode further reveals that the man has the same name as the person Eun Ha has been looking for a long time. She has known him since childhood and wants to see if he is doing alright in life or not. The episode does not disclose whether the prosecutor is the man she is looking for.
Towards the end of episode 1 of My Sweet Mobster, Seo Ji Hwan and Go Eun Ha meet again at a food festival. Eun Ha goes there to host a children’s cooking class, while Ji Hwan is there for a business meeting. This time, Ji Hwan gets into an accident. While going up the stairs of a building, he comes across Eun Ha, who tries to hide her face. She accidentally ends up pushing him with a broomstick. At that moment, Ji Hwan loses his balance and falls down the stairs. The episode ends with Eun Ha being in shock.
