Since the last episode ended with the call for the officers, Kaiju No. 8 episode 6 will show Kafka and others going on their first mission. They will be required to neutralize a Kaiju. However, given the development in the previous episodes where a humanoid Kaiju was introduced, their mission might prove to be more dangerous than before. Kaiju No. 8 episode 5 recap: Hoshina accepts Kafka as a cadet
Kaiju No. 8 episode 5, “Joining Up!” shows Kafka making it into the Defense Force despite his scores being insufficient to meet the criteria. However, Captain Hoshina accepts him as a cadet to because he thinks his performance on the test was promising, ensuring that he has potential.
The episode later reveals that Hoshina was suspicious of Kafka and accepted him as a cadet only to find out what he was hiding. Other than Kafka, Kikoru, Ichikawa, Furuhashi, Izumo, and Kaguragi passed the test. Moreover, Kafka tells his truth to Kikoru, and she suggests that he should not reveal his secret to the Defense Force or he will be experimented upon as a Kaiju.
Kafka and others take a bath together after the fire training exercise, during which Kafka reveals that Captain Mina Ashiro is his childhood friend. This naturally surprises everyone, and they demand that he shed more light on their relationship. Elsewhere, Mina Ashiro shares the basics of her training routine with Kikoru.
In the end, a bell goes off while Hoshina and Kafka are in conversation, indicating that it is time for their first mission.
