Bhairava kills Manas and rescues Sumati after accidentally getting hold of Ashwatthama’s stick while lying on the ground. Earlier, Ashwatthama narrated his story from the Mahabharata era to his young companion, revealing that his stick is not an ordinary one but a bow used by a great warrior. With the said warrior gone, the bow’s powers also disappeared, and it became a mere supporting stick for Ashwatthama.
This implies that the Mahabharata warrior was Karna himself. When Bhairava gets hold of the stick, Karna’s essence resurfaces within him, leading to Bhairava rescuing Sumati. This strongly hints at Bhairava being Karna from the bygone era.
When he killed Manas, Bhairava spoke the exact words Karna uttered to Ashwatthama when he rescued the latter from Arjuna during the Mahabharata era. This adds more credibility to Prabhas as both Bhairava and the Karna in the film.
This intriguing twist doubtless adds a new layer to Kalki 2898 AD’s narrative and sets the stage for an exciting sequel in Nag Ashwin’s cinematic universe.
