Kate Middleton expected to make first public appearance since cancer revelation

(NewsNation) — Princess of Wales Kate Middleton will attend Trooping the Colour this weekend, her first official public appearance since she announced she had cancer, she said on Instagram Friday.

The annual Trooping the Colour is a parade marking the sovereign’s birthday that includes more than 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.

In her post, Middleton said she was grateful for all the support since her diagnosis and revealed that she will likely appear publicly again in the future, though she’s “not out of the woods yet.”

The princess has largely been out of the public eye since announcing a “planned abdominal surgery” and her subsequent cancer diagnosis.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” the post reads.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal,” she added.
