Katy Perry Locks In Collab With Dr Luke, Kesha Responds

The pop sensation who ruled the airwaves in the noughties has just launched her comeback proposal, but taking a note from Miss Jojo Siwa, it may not go down well with the public.

A week after teasing her upcoming single Woman’s World, Katy Perry announced that she has reunited with producer Dr Luke for her latest work.

“Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a label representative for Perry told Rolling Stone.

The singer recently released teasers for her first song in three years, Woman’s World. A video on Perry’s socials shows the singer wearing the same mesh bikini and cybertronic leg props as in her latest cover art, lip-singing along to the lyrics “Sexy; confident. So intelligent. She is heaven-sent. So soft; so strong.”

The singer mentioned during the week that she has been recruiting collaborators from some of her previous work on albums Teenage Dream and Prism for an upcoming album that fans are lovingly labelling “KP6”.

Decorated songwriters and producers such as Sarah Hudson, Stargate, Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes and Theron Thomas have been tapped to reunite with Perry, along with two of her best-known collaborators, Max Martin and Dr Luke.

The internet has been in uproar over the namedrop of Dr Luke (Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald) in particular, after the lengthy and painful duration of the legal battle between the producer and singer Kesha.

Kesha accused the producer of sexual assault, battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, and emotional abuse.

Kesha would go on to release the album Rainbow in 2017, which offers some insights into her struggles through the ordeal. Last year, she dropped the album Gag Order.

Upon hearing of the news of Perry first announcing her reunion with Dr Luke on Woman’s World, Kesha took to X (formerly Twitter), tweeting a single “lol”.

Katy Perry’s newest song is set to premiere on July 12, and the pop-culture wheel is deciding whether this is an album to love for its hinted nostalgia or avoid due to the tarnished collaboration.
