Kelly Osbourne admits she “regrets” quitting music: “I’ve thought about what life would have been like if I hadn’t stopped”

Kelly Osbourne said that she “regrets” quitting music and added that she has thought about what life would have been like had she continued.

When asked on the most recent episode ofThe Osbournes podcast about her decision to quit music, if she regretted it, and whether she will ever go back to singing the 39-year-old said: “I’ve definitely thought about it and what life would have been like if I hadn’t stopped.

“It’s definitely a regret. Will I do anything about that regret? I don’t know.”

Kelly Osbourne, whose parents are Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, soared to the top of the charts in 2003 for a duet alongside her father on his classic Black Sabbath track ‘Changes’.

She also released her own albums titled ‘Shut Up’ (2002) and ‘Sleeping In The Nothing’ (2005) – and was a regular cast member of the reality TV show The Osbournes, which followed the life of the Osbourne family members Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne.

Osbourne has not released any new music since 2005. In the new podcast she explained why she quit music, citing the pressures of having a work-life balance as a key reason.

She said: “I was doing so much TV, I was doing so much touring, so much publicity and so many interviews and I wanted to go out and have fun. I didn’t want it to be all work and no play.

“I also covered up a lot of my insecurity and a lot of the nay-saying and comparisons and just shit-talking with drugs. I was not myself with it. It kind of went hand in hand, and I had to choose myself over all of that. Not to get so dark.”

In 2005, Osbourne told NME that she would not be quitting music: “I don’t know where the rumours came from, I’ve just recorded a version of ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ with Cyndi Lauper.”

Despite not releasing any music, she has found success in TV presenting having featured as a host on Fashion Police, judged on Australia’s Got Talent, and has made guest appearances on the likes of Loose Women and the Masked Singer UK.

Osbourne has also spoken of how she proud of being a ‘nepo baby’, and has praised her parents’ achievements. “I’m a fucking nepo baby and I’m proud to be a nepo baby,” she told Rolling Stone. “I’m proud of my parents’ achievements. I think that what they have done is incredible, history-making. I go so far as to say both of them are iconic.”

Yet, Osbourne acknowledged the importance of earning her place in showbusiness: “But it doesn’t mean that I should automatically be given all of these opportunities. My parents have always taught me that you have to prove yourself.”

In 2023 Kelly Osbourne and Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson welcomed their first child, a boy named Sidney – who became Ozzy Osbourne’s 10th grandchild.

The Osbournes podcast started in 2018 – returning last year – and is recorded from Ozzy and Sharon’s home, where the family discussed “everything from romance to true crime.”

In the latest episode, the family discusses paranormal experiences, theories, ghosts, and creepy locations.
