On Oct. 5, Khruangbin saluted the Lone Star State during its performance at Austin City Limits by welcoming a sit-in from longtime collaborator Leon Bridges. For its first set at Austin’s Zilker Park, the Houston, Texas based trio cycled through some fan favorites from its fourth studio album A LA SALA–which arrived after years of anticipation in April–before welcoming Bridges to recall their twin collaborative EPs, Texas Sun and Texas Moon, staging two standout tracks from those projects perfectly suited to their setting.
As the penultimate performance on the American Express stage, Khruangbin’s Saturday set was a clear highlight in ACL’s first weekend. Beyond its signature theatricality, incorporating distinctive set-pieces and costumes, the trio elevated its hometown appearance with a set-closing feature from Bridges, who reprised his role in their acclaimed road-trips across the Lone Star State’s diverse sonic landscape. Khruangbin and Bridges first issued “Mariella,” drawn from 2022’s Texas Moon, before closing with a sitting treatment of 2020’s “Texas Sun” set against the golden sunset. This marked the first time the acts had performed “Mariella” together, and Khruangbin’s live debut of “Texas Sun”
After the encore, Khruangbin shared the excitement with fans overseas by announcing a show at London’s Gunnersbury Park on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, which will be the band’s largest UK headline show to date. The show will feature a special guest set from the recently reunited New York indie institution TV On The Radio, who just unveiled its first live shows in five years and a 20th anniversary re-issue of the iconic debut project Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, set to release in November. Tickets will be available through a general on-sale this Friday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m., via https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk. A range of pre-sales, beginning tomorrow, will be active until the wider launch.
