Kids Are Growing Up Documentary Reveals The Kid LAROI’s Mental Health Struggles

Prime Video recently released a documentary on the life of Australian rapper and singer The Kid LAROI. Titled, Kids Are Growing Up: A Story About a Kid Named Laroi, its director is Michael D. Ratner.

Even though Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, aka. The Kid LAROI is only 20; he has made a name for himself in a very short time. In the aforementioned documentary, the artist spoke candidly about his own experiences with mental health issues. Interestingly, there was even an instance when LAROI contemplated suicide. Fortunately, he turned to therapy, which undoubtedly saved his life.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, The Kid LAROI stated, “It’s a tough thing to talk about. I’m kind of a bit awkward as it is when I talk about stuff, and then talking about something like that is obviously, it’s not easy for me to go there.”

According to IMDb, the synopsis of Kids Are Growing Up: A Story About a Kid Named Laroi reads, “A moment in time for musician The Kid Laroi as he enters adulthood, navigating fame, mental health struggles, first love, and the death of his mentor Juice WRLD.”

When did The Kid LAROI consider therapy?

The rapper got closer to therapy when he was having suicidal thoughts. Furthermore, it benefited him because he could be raw and honest with the therapist without the fear of judgment.

He stated, “Naturally, [we] as humans have fried feelings or fried thoughts. And we’re all works in progress. No one’s perfect. So being able to voice that without being judged is really cool. I got blessed with having a really good person. Someone who’s really wise and listens.”

The artist considered the late American rapper Juice WRLD as his mentor. Reports suggest that after the latter’s passing, Laroi was deeply disturbed. Furthermore, WRLD was only 21 at the time of his death.
