[1] VIDEO: Albuquerque police arrest teen suspect in Coronado Center shooting – Bodycam video shows the moments leading up to the arrest of a teen accused of shooting a security guard at Coronado Center last week. The footage shows the suspect, 17-year-old Nathaniel Martinez, leading police on a foot chase before surrendering in a nearby parking lot. Police say he threw a gun under a car during the chase. Police say the guard found Martinez sleeping inside the Fuddruckers and asked him to leave. Police say that sparked a fight leading to Martinez shooting the guard and injuring him. Martinez is facing several charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

[2] Albuquerque police urge parental vigilance amid rise in juvenile crime – The Albuquerque Police Department is asking parents to be more vigilant about what their kids are doing online and offline as the number of juvenile crimes continues to rise. APD points to a recent incident at Coronado Center, where a 17-year-old is accused of shooting a security guard, saying its the latest in a disturbing trend of juvenile crime in the city. Police are asking parents to be more aware of the actions of their kids. APD says the community safety department will be working with parents of at-risk teens to help steer them away from crime.

[3] Storm chances increases around New Mexico but temperatures remain hot – Temperatures across the region will rise into the upper 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and still above 100 degrees for some. More moisture in the air, along with daytime heating, will lead to more rainfall later this morning, especially throughout the afternoon. Wetter weather will continue through the early half of the weekend.

[4] City of Albuquerque hosting back-to-school supply giveaways – Happening Thursday, August 1, the city of Albuquerque is hosting a back to school health fair with free clothing and school supplies. That event will be at Los Griegos Health and Social Services Center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Happening Saturday, August 3, the city is giving out backpacks and school supplies at Mesa Verde Community Center and West Mesa Community Center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Preregistration is required for this event.

[5] New Mexico State Fair announces official beer for 2024 – The New Mexico State Fair and Ex Novo Brewing announced Ex Novo’s new Barrel Racer Blonde will be the official beer of the 2024 state fair. Ex Novo brewers say this beer has a light, floral, citrus taste. This year the state fair will have a new speakeasy in the Lujan Complex, the only place fairgoers will be bale to get the beer on draft. The beer will also go on sale in retail stores next week.
