[1] Woman charged with armed robberies in Albuquerque racks up more charges – Cleo Barela has been behind bars since last fall with APD saying she is behind a string of robberies across the metro dating back to 2022. Now, APD has added more armed robbery charges along with assault charges. According to an arrest warrant, investigators said Barela is known for robbing businesses at gunpoint. Barela is scheduled for trial in August.

[2] NM Governor’s Office presents lawmakers with proposed bills for special session – The governor is just weeks away from calling lawmakers back to Santa Fe for a special session. The bills the governor’s hoping to get passed were presented to the Courts, Corrections, and Justice Committee. The first proposal deals with mental health and changes to involuntary commitment procedures. Another proposal deals with competency in court. The governor is looking at three other bills reshaping the criminal code

[3] Less rainfall and warmer temperatures for now – The strong area of high pressure to the northeast that has allowed for Gulf of Mexico low-level moisture is moving farther to the northeast, as another high pressure to the southwest that has been bringing in a reinforcing plume of moisture from The Pacific is moving farther to the southwest, allowing for less moisture across New Mexico today. More sunshine with less rain activity will allow for higher afternoon temperatures today with most reaching the 80’s, 90’s, and lower triple digits from north to south

[4] Wildfires update – Ruidoso’s mayor says the list of missing people from the wildfires is clear. The mayor says no one is currently reported missing in relations to the South Fork and Salt fires. The containment of the South Fork Fire is listed at 69% as of Friday morning.

[5] Alien artwork displayed in Roswell – Bealls in Roswell is now displaying new immersive alien artwork outside their store. The installation was made in time for the city’s annual UFO festival. People can see the new installation at the Roswell mall.
