[1] State regulators approve 65% cost increase to Presbyterian’s ambulance service – One of the largest ambulance providers in New Mexico got the green light to increase how much they charge for service. The resolution approved by state regulators allows for Presbyterian Healthcare’s ambulance provider to charge 65% more for its services. The cost difference could be covered by insurance, depending on a patient’s plan, some patients will end up footing the bill. 

[2] Extreme heat leads to border crossing deaths – Border patrol agents are saying extreme heat is to blame for four border crossing deaths over the weekend. Agents say they are intensifying efforts to prevent these tragedies through increased patrols and specialized search teams, equipped with drones and heat-sensing devices to help find people quickly.

[3] Summer-like heat around New Mexico through the week – Temperatures will warm right back into the 80s, 90s and 100s this afternoon, with more near-record heat in the southeast plains. A weak cold front will move into eastern New Mexico on Wednesday, cooling temperatures by only a few degrees. Temperatures will heat up even more through Thursday, with near-record daily high temperatures expected. Rain chances will increase Thursday through next week.

[4] Albuquerque using new app to provide information about parks and trails – The city is now using the app ‘Outerspatial’ to show every park and trail it maintains. The app shows info about each park, including hours and upcoming events scheduled there. For trails, it shows where they start, where they end and whether they are paved or under construction. The city is working to add its open spaces to the app

[5] NM nonprofit asks for help after crash wrecks van used for transporting animals – The executive director of “Misfits of Oz Farm Sanctuary” was recently involved in a crash in Colorado. The van they use to transport their animals was totaled in the crash. The van was donated about 2 and a half years ago and was being used to transport animals and food. They say the van is also what they use to be able to set community fundraisers. The group is asking for donations to help replace the vehicle. Colorado State Patrol say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
