Jack White has announced a trio of concerts slated to occur in the Midwest. The newly dropped appearances continue the musician’s current concert approach: impetuous, small-scale gigs supporting his sixth studio LP, No Name, which was quietly released on August 1. According to the musician’s post, the latest round of dates will pick up on Thursday, August 29, at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Pittsburgh.
Notably, White’s latest announcement leaves just a sliver of time separating the notification of the impending performances and the actual show—just two days–likely to account for the intimate concert environment and 800-capacity room in Steel City. Doubling his audience with the arrival of his next concert, White will perform at Newport Music Hall in Columbus this Saturday, August 31.
The final newly added date represents his most intimate appearance out of the bunch. On Sunday, Sept. 1, White will return to his home state for a gig at the 400-capacity Blind Big venue in Ann Arbor, Mich. Previously, White alluded to this style of concert in tangent with No Name support, writing on Instagram: “We won’t really be announcing dates in advance so much, we will mostly be playing small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.”
He continued, “Shows will be announced as close to the show date as possible, some shows we won’t even decide to do until that morning. I also want to walk through orchard fields and grab apples off of trees at will and fill my belly full of that fruit if the desire strikes me. I’m looking for that cool breeze you know?”
“Lots of love and rock and roll to you all and you are blessed for giving that love to others, we hope that we see you out on the road soon, if not let’s get coffee and a slide of pie sometime? Music is sacred,” White’s message concluded.
