Laneway Festival Confirms 2025 Return

Laneway Festival Confirms 2025 Return

Laneway Festival has confirmed its 2025 return and seems to be gearing up to share the details of its forthcoming events.

This morning (26 September), the profile picture on Laneway Festival’s social media accounts was updated, hinting at next year’s festival theme. An alien with a surprised face appears in a spaceship as it hurdles through space.

Organisers for next year’s festival also shared a video confirming the festival’s return with a banner that read “COMING SOON.” The video is captioned, “Don’t worry, we’ll be back in February 2025 👀 Stay tuned.” You can sign up here for updates.

This year’s Laneway Festival was headlined by Stormzy (the UK star’s first Australian shows in seven years), Dominic Fike, and Steve Lacy. Other acts on the bill included RAYE, AJ Tracey, Faye Webster, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Angie McMahon, Vacations, Confidence Man, and many more. The line-up drop arrived in early September.

While nothing posted on Laneway’s socials today confirms dates, venues, or line-up details, it’s safe to assume that it will take over its usual haunts in February 2025 – Brisbane Showgrounds, Sydney Showgrounds, Adelaide’s Bonython Park, Melbourne’s Flemington Park, and Perth’s Wellington Square.

Meanwhile, this year’s festival art also looked whimsical and slightly alien, featuring a purple background, a UFO and a little green man, sunshine, worms, a spiky dog, Saturn, and more.

In 2023, Laneway was headlined by HAIM. The festival also starred Joji (both artists performing Australian exclusive gigs), FINNEAS, Fontaines D.C., Fred again.., Turnstile, girl in red, Mallrat, The Beths, Sycco, Tasman Keith and many more.

The Music reviewer David James Young summarised that the Sydney edition of the festival was “Slickly run, well executed and confidently putting its best foot forward after a long period of uncertainty surrounding Australian festivals’ sustainability as a whole”, calling Laneway’s vibes “hopeful”.

Young continued, “Not only can this be done, but it can also be done well – maybe even better than it’s ever been. Watch this space.”
