Today, Twin Cities-bred funk duo King Pari have officially announced their debut full-length album There It Goes. Set to release via Stones Throw on October 18 as their first offering on the legendary L.A. label, the genre-bending “bedroom funk” duo’s forthcoming project runs the range from breezy neo-psych gliders to blistering superfreak-outs in a leftfield, lo-fi celebration of the Minneapolis Sound. To accompany its landmark announcement, the artists have shared “Bag. Full. Of. Cash.,” the “broke as fuck” third preview single after “Better the Devil” and “Wait A Minute.”

Though recently relocated to the City of Angels, Joe Paris Christensen and Cameron Kinghor retain their Minnesota bona fides, having performed with the New Power Generation and received an invitation to perform at Paisley Park by Prince himself. Refracted through the lenses of soul, psych-rock, underground hip-hop and jazz–the duo’s first gig was an opening set for Kamasi Washington–King Pari’s sound is warmly familiar but entirely unique.

The finesse that the artists exude in recombining their influences is clear on “Bag. Full. Of. Cash.,” which bumps and slinks with laid-back falsetto set against a tight funk groove. Add the reeling recollection of “Wait a Minute” and moody stomp of “Better the Devil,” and There It Goes appears as a curiously emotive and undeniably danceable collection from a bold new voice. Stones Throw initiates will find the freshmen right at home alongside vaunted alumni like Anderson .Paak, Stimulator Jones, Mndsgn, Mild High Club and many more.

There It Goes is available to pre-order and pre-save now; watch the David Gutel-directed music video for “Bag. Full. Of. Cash.” below. For more information on King Pari, and its winter European tour dates supporting Ginger Root, visit kingparimusic.com.
