Coldplay made Glastonbury history over the weekend after they became the first act to ever headline the iconic British music festival five times.
During their career-defining set on Saturday (29 June), Coldplay performed their greatest hits, from opening with Yellow to performances of Clocks, Viva La Vida, and A Sky Full Of Stars.
In the encore – which they kicked off with the Parachutes classic Sparks – Coldplay were joined by special guest Michael J. Fox, who performed with the band for the first time since 2016. Performing Humankind with the actor and activist, it was the rendition of Fix You with Michael J. Fox that was the most moving.
Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1991, was in a wheelchair for the performance and played guitar with Coldplay on both songs. Chris Martin spurred him on with chants of “Go, Johnny, go!”
Introducing Fox to the stage, Martin said (via Variety), “With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.”
After the performance, Martin added, “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back To The Future. So, thank you to Michael, our hero.”

Glastonbury saw Sunday headliner SZA plagued by technical issues, but Friday headliner Dua Lipa smashed her performance out of the park and invited special guest Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to the stage.
In other Coldplay news, the British band recently announced that their upcoming album, Moon Music, will be released on Friday, 4 October. The new single, feelslikeimfallinginlove, which they debuted at Glastonbury, is out now.
Coldplay will return to Australia and New Zealand in October and November for four nights at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, four nights at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, and three shows at Auckland’s Eden Park.
