More rain coming to New Mexico as temperatures continue to lower

Widespread rain is coming to New Mexico later this afternoon and into the evening. This rain will be sticking around for the next few days.

The high pressure over New Mexico finally relocated itself to Texas and then the midwestern plains yesterday evening. This allowed for an influx of moisture to be funneled into New Mexico. This moisture will be sticking around for the next several days. It will be bringing heavier and more widespread rain to New Mexico.

Today, most of New Mexico saw temperatures begin to cool off. The notable exception is the southeast. A Heat Advisory is in place for Chaves County until 8:00 p.m. on August 23rd. The southeast will see their temperatures begin to cool off over the weekend. As the high temperatures lower, cities like Roswell will finally see a break from their 100 degree temperature stretch.
