Motorcycle rider killed in hit-and-run in Northridge

A 32-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Northridge, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 10:10 p.m. Friday, August 9. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to Tampa Avenue and Plummer Street, where witnesses told them the victim was traveling east on Tampa when he was struck by a man in a vehicle driving south on Plummer, an LAPD spokesman said.

The driver, who witnesses said was a man, fled south on Plummer without stopping, police said.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. His name has not been released.

The department’s West Traffic Division is handling the investigation of the collision.
