My Morning Jacket Announce Fall Headline Dates, Following Co-Headline Tour with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

RMAG news

My Morning Jacket have announced a new set of live dates for this fall, arriving as the band’s only planned headline tour for the rest of 2024. In the wake of its triumphant no-repeats four-night residency at the Fillmore, which raged through last week to massive acclaim, the group has enticed its fans with a grouping of four further dates, which will bring the Americana giants to the Southeast and Midwest in late September and early October. This run will follow the Eye To Eye Tour, which the group will co-headline alongside Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats in September.

My Morning Jacket will kick off its fall headline series with a performance on Sept. 30 at Savannah, Ga.’s Johnny Mercer Theatre. After this opener, the quintet will venture north to Knoxville, Tenn. for a performance on Oct. 1; for this first pair, the group will welcome support from renowned alt-country singer-songwriter S.G. Goodman, whose 2020 debut album Old Time Feeling was produced by MMJ frontman Jim James. The group’s next pair of shows will land on Oct. 3, when it will take the stage at Maymont in Richmond, Va., then continue on Oct. 4 for a set at Cleveland’s Cain Park Amphitheater, which is the band’s last plotted performance of the year so far. This second set will feature opening act Jade Bird, whose energetic and idiosyncratic Londoner approach to Americana will bring a refreshing twist to the final fall shows.

This new run extends from the Eye To Eye Tour, which will match up the titanic talents of My Morning Jacket and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats for 11 dates in September. From a Sept. 10 opener in Wilmington, N.C. to a Sept. 28 conclusion in Raleigh, N.C., the dynamic duo will race up and down the East Coast, stopping along the way for two shows at Nashville, Tenn.’s Ascend Amphitheater on Sept. 18 and 19, among other high-profile appearances. “We were lucky enough to see Nathaniel and some of the Night Sweats at Preservation Hall in New Orleans some years ago – our minds were blown, our hearts were opened, and we got swept up in the joy of it all,” James offered on the origins of the collaboration. “We are so happy to share the stage with these fine folks for a run full of peace, love, music, and fun!”

“We are long-time lovers of My Morning Jacket, and over the years have grown a close friendship,” Rateliff added in a release. “It’s so special to become friends with musicians and peers that you admire and we’re looking forward to bringing our love for each other on the road.”

My Morning Jacket’s final night at The Fillmore brought the band’s hotly anticipated San Francisco series to new heights, reintroducing rarities like “If All Else Fails” and “Like a River” and saluting the city with a roaring debut cover of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay.” Read more about the Fillmore run here, and visit setlist.fm for the complete setlists from the series. The band will return to the stage on June 29 for a headline set at The Capitol Groove in Hartford, Conn. For tickets and more information on the band’s tour schedule, visit mymorningjacket.com/tour.
