Martin Scorsese is getting ready to film a new documentary based on ancient shipwrecks found in the Mediterranean Sea.

The untitled project is based on research by U.S. archaeologist and will primarily take place in Polizzi Generosa, a town in Sicily, Italy and the birthplace of his grandparents.

According to a report from Variety, production is set to begin this summer, although no official release information about the project has been revealed.

What do we know about the new Martin Scorsese movie?

The documentary will reportedly be filmed in various underwater locations around the Strait of Sicily, Trapani, and Marausa.

“We’ve welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm,” Francesco Paolo Scarpinato, Sicily’s councillor for cultural heritage, told Italian news agency ANSA. He went on to mention that the town is “making all pertinent sites and archaeological parks available, considering the relevance of the project.”

The documentary is just the latest potential project that Scorsese is working on. Aside from the documentary, Scorsese is also said to be working on a potential Frank Sinatra biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, as well as his long-in-development movie about the life of Jesus.
