New Mexicans can expect to see more skunks across the state

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico striped skunk is getting ready to tackle cooler weather by getting out earlier in the evening to bulk up on food. An ABQ BioPark senior zookeeper said to watch carefully for skunks between dawn and dusk when they are most active. “If you do see a skunk, even if they haven’t started to warn you off. The best thing to do is to give them their space,” said Senior ABQ BioPark Zookeeper Jessica Washburn.

Washburn said black bears up north are also getting ready for hibernation.
