ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The start of June marked the start of Caribbean-American Heritage Month. Locals celebrated with food, dance, and, most importantly, music.

New Mexico Entertainment Magazine and Big Happy Productions came together to put on the event celebrating the island culture even here in the desert of New Mexico.

Organizers say the culture is alive in the reggae music scene, with musical performances at Saturday’s event by local artists and DJs.

The Caribbean celebration featured food trucks of some of the best local Caribbean cuisine alongside local vendors selling clothing specific to the culture.
