New Mexico fish hatchery now exclusively producing Gila trout

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A fish hatchery in Glenwood, New Mexico is now exclusively producing Gila trout. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish said the historic hatchery was built in 1938 and is currently undergoing a complete renovation of its water delivery system and production facility.

Hatchery staff said once the Gila trout reach a mature age, they will be stocked into their native waters in southwest New Mexico. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
