New Mexico man pleads guilty in fatal stabbing case

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A man has submitted his plea connected to a voluntary manslaughter case from 2023.

The US Department of Justice said Kirtie Cohoe, 48, of Pinehill, pleaded guilty to a fatal stabbing crime that happened on July 31, 2023.

Court documents claimed Cohoe was at a family gathering in Shiprock when he was involved in a dispute. He’s accused of stabbing the victim more than once in the torso with a knife. The man died.

Officers found Cohoe after he fled, and he was apprehended nearby with blood on his clothes. Additionally, they said his wallet was near the weapon.

Cohoe faces 15 years in prison and up to three years of supervised release.
