New Mexico stays dry today with possible record breaking high temperatures

Very dry conditions persist continue across New Mexico. Record breaking heat is possible.

As New Mexico moves in to yet another day of no rain, temperatures continue their upward trend. Farmington kicked off the record breaking heat yesterday when they reached a high of 89 degrees. This beat the previous record of 88 degrees set in 2020. Today, various regions of northwest, west, and central New Mexico have the potential to tie or break their previously set record highs.

A backdoor cold front will make its way into New Mexico Friday afternoon. This front will bring back isolated storms to the Northern Mountains. The front will also bring breezy conditions to the northeast and central New Mexico.

The rain on Friday will be short lived. The rain chances on Saturday are much more sparse compared to Friday. On Sunday, the rain clears out of New Mexico entirely.

Another backdoor front will be moving into New Mexico on Monday. While this front might not be bringing rain, it will be cooling off the temperatures. Breezy conditions will also accompany the front Monday afternoon and evening.
