New Mexico wildfire victims can get replacement SNAP EBT benefits

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – To help families impacted by the South Fork and Salt fires near Ruidoso, New Mexico, the state’s Human Services Department is offering to replace Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and EBT cards.

“We have dedicated teams on the ground assisting New Mexicans impacted by the wildfires,” Niki Kozlowski, Income Support Division director for the Human Services Department, said in a press release. “The devastation in Lincoln and Otero counties deeply impact us, and we are working to support those communities.”

Those seeking replacement benefits have until July 17, 2024 to report their losses and request a replacement of food benefits. To report a loss, you must do so in writing or in-person. The replacement benefits are for people living in the following zip codes: 88312, 88345, 88355, 88346, and 88340.

The Human Services Department has set up a temporary field office in Roswell for people to report food loss from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is at he Roswell Civic Center, 912 N Main St, Roswell, NM 88201.

To get a replacement EBT card, New Mexicans can go to a field office or call the FIS card service call center at 1-800-843-8303. You can also call the state at 1-800-283-4465 or use the FIS EBT Edge app (available at ebtedge.com)
