Sârbul Novak Djokovici, locul 1 mondial, s-a retras de la Roland Garros după ce s-a calificat în sferturile de finală, unde urma să îl înfrunte pe danezul Casper Ruud, a relatat news.ro.

Potrivit organizatorilor, motivul este „o leziune la meniscul medial al genunchiului drept, detectată în urma unui RMN efectuat astăzi”.

Novak Djokovic se calificase ieri în sferturile de finală ale turneului de la Roland Garros la capătul unui meci dificil împotriva lui Francisco Cerundolo, pe care l-a învins în cinci seturi, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3, după 4 ore şi 39 de minute.

La finalul partidei, Djokovic a spus că a simțit dureri la genunchi după ce a alunecat în cel de-al treilea ghem din setul secund. El a apelat la antiinflamatoare pentru a putea încheia meciul.
