Olympic medalist Jordan Chiles set to return to UCLA gymnastics for 2025 season

Jordan Chiles will return to UCLA gymnastics for the 2025 season after a 2024 Paris Olympics appearance that included a team gold medal and an individual bronze medal in floor exercise, as announced by UCLA Athletics on Thursday.

“You all have been waiting for it,” Chiles said in an interview with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb. “I am returning back to UCLA to represent the Bruins for my two remaining years of college. You guys will see me back in Pauley this season.”

Chiles, who will be a junior, also won a silver medal in 2020 to make her the most decorated Olympian in UCLA women’s gymnastics history.

She recorded three perfect 10s in the 2022 season — two on floor and one on uneven bars — and earned All-American recognition on floor. She followed up with NCAA titles on uneven bars and on floor exercise in 2023 while finishing as the runner-up in the all-around at the national championships.

“I’m thrilled for Jordan to return to Westwood,” UCLA gymnastics coach Janelle McDonald said. “Not only has she proven to be one of the best gymnasts in the world, but she has also shown time and time again that she is one of the most supportive and encouraging sportswomen around. She’s an incredible ambassador for NCAA Gymnastics and UCLA.”

The Bruins’ schedule for the upcoming season has yet to be announced but is set to begin in January.
