Proteste au izbucnit în mai multe orașe britanice în urma atacului cu cuțitul comis luni, 29 iulie, Southport și soldat cu moartea a trei fetițe și rănirea altor copii și adulți. La Londra, peste 100 de persoane au fost arestate în urma protestelor violente, relatează The Guardian. Incidente au avut loc și la Hartlepool, și la Manchester.
O mașină de poliție a fost incendiată după ce un grup mare de persoane s-a adunat miercuri seara în zona Murray Street din Hartlepool. Poliția a declarat că ofițerii au fost atacați cu rachete, sticle și ouă și că au fost făcute opt arestări pentru diverse infracțiuni, inclusiv tulburarea ordinii publice și ultraj.
În Manchester, aproximativ 40 de persoane, printre care s-au numărat copii și bărbați purtând cagule, s-au adunat în fața hotelului din Oldham Road, în ceea ce ziarul Manchester Evening News precizează că „părea a fi o luare de poziție împotriva solicitanților de azil găzduiți în prezent în hotel”.

La Londra, un protest de amploare a fost organizat sub titlul „Enough is enough” (Destul este destul). Arestările au avut loc după ce demonstranții s-au ciocnit cu ofițerii de poliție în Whitehall.
Protestatarii au aruncat cutii de bere și sticle asupra unui șir de polițiști în echipament antirevoltă în fața Downing Street, precum și rachete de semnalizare asupra statuii lui Winston Churchill din Parliament Square.
De asemenea, unii manifestanți au scandat mesaje precum „ne vrem țara înapoi” și „Oh Tommy Robinson”, cu referire la un activist de dreapta.

„Peste 100 de persoane au fost arestate pentru infracțiuni, inclusiv tulburări violente, agresarea unui lucrător de urgență și încălcarea condițiilor de protest. Unii ofițeri au suferit răni minore”, a transmis Poliția Metropolitană.

Violențe au izbucnit marți în Southport după un priveghi pentru cele trei fete ucise în atacul cu cuțitul la un eveniment de dans cu tematica Taylor Swift.
Ofițerii de poliție din Southport au suferit răni grave când au fost aruncate înspre ei cărămizi, pietre și sticle, iar unele dintre mașinile lor au fost incendiate în timpul protestelor violente. Incidentele au avut loc în apropierea moscheii din oraș, după ce pe internet au circulat informații false cu privire la suspect.
Cinci persoane au fost arestate în Southport în contextul violențelor, în urma cărora 53 de polițiști și trei câini polițiști au fost răniți.
Un adolescent în vârstă de 17 ani a fost acuzat de uciderea celor trei fete. Alți opt copii și doi adulți au fost grav răniți. Acuzatul a fost arestat preventiv.
