PHOTOS: Flight of the Nations Mass Ascension lifts off on Day 5 of Balloon Fiesta

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Honoring all of the countries represented in the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Wednesday’s Mass Ascension featured the Flight of the Nations event, during which balloons displayed their respective national colors and flags. At the 52nd fiesta, 16 countries were represented: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This year, North Macedonia was a new addition to the Flight of the Nations. Wednesday’s events kicked off with the Dawn Patrol Show, Morning Glow, and opening ceremonies. Remote control balloons were also in the spotlight, with the Fiesta de Los Globitos at 7:30 a.m.
