Plaque dedicated to clergy sex abuse victims on display in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Archdiocese of Santa Fe has dedicated a plaque in remembrance of those who have suffered clergy sex abuse. The newly installed plaque is near the entrance of the Pastoral Center on the campus of St. Pius X High School. The plaque serves as acknowledgment and remembrance of the victims, both living and dead, within the archdiocese.

“This is a constant daily symbol, a reminder of our commitment to keep children and young people safe. And as well our sorrow at the past. It’s looking at the past with sorrow and regret and seeking forgiveness and looking to the future with hope,” said Archibishop John C. Wester, Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

Per a recent settlement agreement, victims asked that no religious rite or ceremony take place during the dedication.
