PlayStation’s DualSense Edge controller now customizable for PC use

Those who anted up for the $199.99 DualSense Edge controller for PlayStation 5 can now make full use of its features on a PC, thanks to an update to the PlayStation Accessories app for Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The app was previously known as “Firmware update for DualSense wireless controller”; the switch to a cleaner name acknowledges the inclusion of the DualSense Edge in the management toolkit.

Starting today PC gamers can unleash the full customizable power of the DualSense Edge controller directly on their computer.

The DualSense Edge launched at the beginning of 2023, and it incorporates swappable analog sticks, back paddle buttons, and reprogrammable function keys, much like the Xbox Elite and Elite Series 2 controllers for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The new PlayStation Accessories app delivers “significant improvements to the overall design and user experience,” PlayStation says, and lets users create, edit, and switch between custom DualSense Edge profiles on PC, the same as they may on PlayStation 5.

What can you do with the DualSense Edge’s customization features?

A profile’s customization options include features like stick sensitivity, deadzones for thumbstick and L2/R2 input, button remapping, and the intensity of the haptic feedback through the DualSense Edge’s triggers. These adjustments can optimize the controller for play from, say, the fast-twitch response of a first-person shooter to the smoother and more precise inputs necessary in a racing video game.

PlayStation Accessories is available now. Its customization suite is only available to the DualSense Edge; PlayStation Accessories will still be the means of updating a standard DualSense controller over PC.
