Rain coming to New Mexico tonight

Rain coming to New Mexico tonight

Rain can be expected across the eastern half of New Mexico today. The timing is depended on a backdoor cold front.

After several dry days more widespread moisture is coming to New Mexico. This rain is thanks to a backdoor cold front moving into the state later this afternoon. The timing of the cold front will determine how widespread the rain is. Currently, the front appears to be moving through the state in the early evening which will bring rain to Northern, Central, and Eastern New Mexico.

Tomorrow dry air will once again take hold of the state. This will isolate rain chances to the southeast and the Gila Wilderness. The Northern Mountains can also expect a few isolated storms.

Over the weekend a high pressure will build over the four corners. This high will return New Mexico to a normal monsoon pattern. Isolated to scattered storms can be expected in the mountains, northeast, and southeast through the weekend.
