A rare version of The Beatles‘ ‘Love Me Do’ is expected to fetch over £9,000 at an auction today (June 24).

The 1962 single, which also features ‘P.S I Love You’, is one of only 250 copies and is unique due to the fact that Paul McCartney‘s surname is incorrectly spelt as “McArtney”.
It was part of a select number of tracks pressed and distributed to TV and radio stations prior to the single’s release on October 5 in 1962.
“This is an especially rare Beatles single from the very earliest days of the band’s career,” vinyl specialist Rob Smee, told BBC News.
“Being one of only 250 it is of particular interest to Beatles’ collectors and the misspelling of Paul McCartney’s name is both authentic and interesting in itself.”
The seven-inch vinyl will go under the hammer at Stacey’s Auctioneers’ sale in Chelmsford, Essex, later today.

Meanwhile, McCartney was spotted at Taylor Swift‘s ‘Eras’ show at Wembley last night (June 23), where he danced along with her fans to ‘But Daddy I Love Him’.
He also recently announced a run of UK and European headline shows for later this year as part of his ‘Got Back’ tour including two gigs at the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester (December 14, 15) and a pair of concerts at The O2 in London (18,19).

McCartney’s forthcoming return to the UK will mark the singer-songwriter’s first performances on these shores since his headline set at Glastonbury 2022. He hasn’t played in the capital since 2018, and he last took to the stage in Manchester in 2011.
The newly confirmed shows are set to follow a run of South American dates in October, of which he recently added extra dates.
