Rio Rancho teen accused of murdering Albuquerque man in attempted car theft

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police arrested 16-year-old Jeremy Jones who is accused of shooting and killing a man during an attempted car robbery. Early Tuesday morning, police responded to a home near Menaul and Adams St. where they found 37-year-old Christopher Sanchez shot to death.

Police said Sanchez exited his home and saw a group of people stealing from his truck. That’s when police said Jones shot and killed Sanchez. Jones was arrested and is facing several charges including murder.

Police are looking for a white or light silver SUV, potentially a 2008-2012 Ford Escape. Police are also looking for additional suspects involved in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 505-242-COPS or 505-843-STOP.
