Romania Favored by Foreign Tourists for Culture and Entertainment

Romania is the favorite of tourist groups from India, Great Britain, China for private themed events, for which they allocate large budgets, and for cultural and entertainment holidays in clubs. The events organized by the Paralela45 travel agency this year for foreign tourists, groups of 50-60 people, have budgets between 200 and 300,000 euros.

Paralela45’s incoming activity is relaunched in 2024 and focuses on offering foreigners unforgettable experiences about Romania, from events organized for the first time with foreign tourists to programs customized to their wishes.

The groups of foreign tourists organized so far had short stays of a few days, which they spent in Bucharest and its surroundings, visiting the House of the People on a private tour with separate entrance, go to clubs, relax in SPA centers, discover Romanian gastronomy in tourist mansions.

For the first time in the history of the CFR, a group on vacation in Romania rode the presidential train on the Bucharest – Sinaia route. Also for the first time, recreating a NASCAR atmosphere, foreigners had the opportunity of private defensive driving experiences at the largest street and offroad circuit in Romania, reserved only for them.

Almost all groups of foreigners request the organization of unique, themed private events. One of the memorable events in the Paralela45 portfolio is the transformation of a private space into a circus arena, with dancers hanging from the ceiling and contortionists on stage, with life-sized animals in the photo corner areas. The budgets for private events organized for groups of foreigners in Romania have so far been between 150 and 200,000 euros. An upcoming event has an allocated budget of over 300,000 euros.

About 20% of foreigners who come for a weekend event plan a personal vacation months away. The second coming to Romania is in Transylvania and Maramureș, about which he learns information during the first trip.

“Our foreign tourists are not only surprised, but absolutely delighted with Romania as a long weekend destination. Come with no expectations and leave with a desire to return. They come here because Romania is an attractive novelty for their desire for culture and relaxation, fun, nightlife. We have the best value for money in entertainment. The news about us spreads quickly and the demand from tourists from India, Great Britain, Australia and China is increasing”, declares Ioana Burcea, Marketing Director of Paralela45 and coordinator of the Incoming team, which currently consists of 12 people, specialists in the organization ofevents, local assistance and guidance, customer service and English, Hindi, German, French and Russian speakers. Once the incoming activity is relaunched with an emphasis on unforgettable experiences in Romania, Paralela45 estimates the tripling of groups of foreign tourists with customized programs, in the next three years, exceeding 10,000 tourists per year.Paralela45 forecasts aim to position Romania in the top European destinations attractive for culture and entertainment. “Incoming will become an important part of Paralela45’s activity, along with external tourism, stays and circuits, domestic tourism, ticketing and corporate travel. It grows organically and dynamically thanks to the customization of programs and our guests, who recommend Romania to their acquaintances”, states Ioana Burcea.

Romania registered around two million foreign tourists last year, according to official statistics, below the 2029 level of 2.6 million people. Foreigners come for business, music festivals, concerts and city breaks.
