Santa Fe National Forest recreations fees increasing in 2025

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Day use and camping fees will soon increase in the Santa Fe National Forest. The increased fees go into effect in spring of 2025.

The increased fees will help cover services like trash collection, septic services, and general maintenance. Some of the fees will be:

Jemez Falls Campground single site: $20 (up from $10)

Jemez Falls Trailhead: $5 per day (previously free)

Redondo Campground: $15 per single site (previously $10)

La Junta, La Cueva, Dark Canyon, East Fork, Las Casitas, Black Canyon, Windsor, and some other day use trailheads: $5 per day (previously free)

New Mexico now offering Smokey Bear license plates

The list above does not include all increases. For details on a particular trail or campground, you can call (505) 438-5300. In addition to day passes, the Forest Service sells multi-use passes, like the Enchantment Pass. That’s a $40 one-year pass that gives access to the five national forests and grasslands in New Mexico.

Recently, the Santa Fe National Forest also started a QR code payment option for campground fees. You can learn more about that program at this link.
