Shake Shack’s first drive-thru in California will open Aug. 15 in Torrance, according to a news release.
The standalone restaurant is at 1875 W. 190th St., near the 405 Freeway.
It will have two drive-thru lanes with digital menu boards, a two-lane ordering system and a separate pick-up window, according to representatives. Developers presented the city with a plan for 34-vehicle drive-in capacity, according to planning commission minutes from 2022.
Hours will be 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. daily for the dining room. The drive-thru will be open until midnight Friday and Saturday.
The new drive-thru will host a food drive benefiting New Challenge Ministries on opening day. In addition to collecting cans from customers, $1 from each sandwich sold will go to the food bank, the news release said.
Shake Shack also has a location in Del Amo Fashion Center, 3525 W Carson St., Torrance.
Shake Shack specializes in burgers, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes.
The chain was founded in Manhattan in 2004 and now has more than 350 locations in the United States and 190 international locations, according to its most recent financial statement. The new Torrance restaurant will be its 39th drive-thru nationally and 49th location in California, the news release said.
