Scattered to isolated afternoon showers and storms are going to continue through the weekend across New Mexico. By Friday, drier air will move into the eastern half of the state, but afternoon storm chances will continue across the central mountain chain, while rain chances will increase across western parts of New Mexico. Valley rain chances will be a little harder to come by, but storms will be travelling generally from east to west by this weekend. High temperatures will also be climbing through the weekend.
By early next week, the high pressure that’s been steering this week’s and this weekend’s storms will begin to break down. This will allow for a plume of monsoon moisture to move across New Mexico next Tuesday and Wednesday. This will bring back more widespread thunderstorm chances by the middle of next week.
