Sierra Nevada World Music Festival Cancels 2024 Gathering

RMAG news

Sierra Nevada World Music Festival has announced the cancellation of its impending event, slated for June 21 through 23 in Boonville, Calif. Known for its offering of traditional Jamaican music and family-friendly atmosphere, event producer Gretchen Franz-Smith was tasked with delivering a statement on behalf of the festival, referencing unforeseen circumstances and low ticket sales as the catalyst for revocation.

Franz-Smith’s official statement included, “Last year, the SNWMF team beautifully and successfully revitalized the festival after a five-year hiatus. We have been diligently working towards presenting another magical weekend this year. This has become increasingly difficult due to an extremely sharp decrease in ticket sales the past couple weeks.”

Providing background and added press details, the folks behind the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival explained that despite their best efforts to cut expenses, the rising cost of infrastructure and transportation made it so they could not proceed in good conscience, knowing they could not properly meet financial commitments to provide the highest-quality experience.

Franz Smith continued, “We cannot apologize enough for this turn of events or the late notice. We have considered every option the last couple weeks but must face the harsh economic realities. We cannot express our gratitude and love to everyone who has supported SNWMF.”

Before the confirmed cancellation, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival would have offered its 27th installment of the musical gathering after returning from a five-year hiatus in 2023. SNWMF was adamant about issuing refunds. For more information, visit www.snwmf.com
