Silver City police search for suspect in Tuesday shooting

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 is working to learn more about a shooting that put Western New Mexico University under a shelter-in-place. It went into effect just before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.


Gallup police asking for information on shooting that injured teen

The Silver City Police Department said the shooting happened off campus and the university has lifted the shelter in place. Police are still searching for the suspect. The university said the suspect is believed to be driving a white Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme-type vehicle. They said one person has extensive face tattoos.

Silver City police said they know who the suspect is but are not releasing that information at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 and to not approach the vehicle if seen.
