On Saturday, June 22, Silversun Pickups blew through Port Chester, N.Y. for a performance in the hallowed halls of The Capitol Theatre. Keeping up with its Psychic Thrills Tour, which celebrates the band’s sixth album, released in 2022, the 20-year titans of heavy-hitting alt-rock delivered a high-intensity 15-track set with a four-song encore. In the course of the show, the band reminded the packed house at the Cap of its enduring legacy while pioneering new sounds for the future, matching seasoned favorites like “Well Thought Out Twinkles,” “Panic Switch,” “Little Lover’s So Polite” and “Kissing Families” with new entries like “Alone on a Hill,” “Scared Together” and “Empty Nest.” After all was said and done, the longtime pathbreakers sent the crowd off into the night with the anthemic standout hit “Lazy Eye.” Brooklyn-based grunge up-and-comers Hello Mary opened.
