The cause of death of Slash’s stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight, has been shared.
It was announced last month that Knight had died on July 19 at the age of 25. Initially, no further information about her passing was shared publicly, and Knight’s family requested that “social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss”.
Now, the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner has shared a statement, announcing the cause and manner of her death.
According to the report shared yesterday (August 29), the department “determined the cause of death for 25-year-old Lucy-Bleu Knight as hydrogen sulphide toxicity”. It continued: “The manner of death is suicide.”
Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless, highly toxic gas that can be recognised by its pungent rotten egg odour at low concentrations. The Centre for Disease Prevention website explained that “inhalation of high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide can produce extremely rapid unconsciousness and death”.
Knight worked as a day-to-day manager at Electric Lady Management and also appeared to be a tattoo artist, often sharing her work on social media. She was the daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight. Hodges and Slash first got together in 1989, and then rekindled their relationship in 2015.
Around the time of her death, Slash shared a tribute on social media: “My heart is permanently fractured. I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are. The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”
The day before the announcement was made, Slash cancelled several dates of his ‘S.E.R.P.E.N.T’ tour due to “unforeseen circumstances”, which was in support of his recent blues covers album ‘Orgy Of The Damned’.
