Spark Generation aims to raise one million euros through the Seedblink platform

Spark Generation, the digital educational platform from Cluj-Napoca, aims to attract one million euros over the next 30 days through Seedblink, the co-investment platform for European tech startups, to continue developing the platform and enable more high school students and teachers to access its benefits.

The necessary investment to continue its growth totals two million euros, of which the first million has already been covered by three existing investors who decided to increase their investment in Spark Generation. The funding round via Seedblink will close on August 23.

In the three years since its launch, Spark Generation has developed rapidly, and our impact on education has become significant. In the last year alone, we have managed to bring 9,000 users onto the platform, starting from 80 users in January 2023, which indicates a growth of over 1000% in less than 12 months. The users come from both private and public schools in 25 countries, and this success would not have been possible without adapting the business model and having a technological product that brings real benefits to teachers and students. Selling our product directly to schools helps us scale quickly, and integrating artificial intelligence into the platform allows for a personalised and efficient educational experience,” explains Ruxandra Mercea, founder and educational director of Spark Generation.

Spark Generation returns to SeedBlink after a successful investment round in 2023 and significant changes in the business model, now also addressing high schools. The explosive growth in users and revenues has transformed Spark from a local Romanian startup into an international one.” says Eric Bartha, Head of Revenue at SeedBlink.

The Spark Generation educational platform is addressing students aged 13 to 19, from Romania and abroad, who speak English and want to take accredited Cambridge courses and need a flexible schedule in the schooling process. They have access to over 55 accredited Cambridge IGCSE & A Level subjects (in English), Wellbeing and Future Readiness courses, and various resources for vocational discovery. Spark Generation courses can be accessed by high schools and parents on a per-student subscription basis. To scale the business, Spark Generation has launched a funding process to cover the project’s medium-term development stages.

“Investing in Spark Generation has always meant being part of the future of education. Spark Generation’s vision for the future of education and the professionalism of the founders initially convinced us to invest. We were impressed by their innovative ideas and strong commitment to changing the way high school students learn. We appreciated the team’s energy, flexibility, and excellent results, so we chose to continue investing to develop the product. The team has in-depth knowledge of the education industry, and although the future of education is not yet well defined, Spark Generation is in an excellent position to leverage the latest technologies to bring significant improvements, and their growth potential is immense. To new potential investors considering joining, we can say they have a fantastic opportunity to invest in a market segment that uses high-value AI functions, which work and are actively used by teachers and students,” explains Piet Eenkhoorn, Board Member of InQubator, the startup investment program of Qubiz, a company that has invested in Spark Generation from the beginning.
